Age

Age of Band Fm not precisely determined (165). P.N. Podkopaev et al. (1961) provisionally dated it to the Early Devonian. A.K. Bukharin et al. (1968), K.K. Pyatkov et al. (1971), N.M. Larin (Vashchenko, Larin, 1980) based on the results of absolute age determination of Bandsky volcanites, suggest their formation corresponds to the Eifelian epoch. O.I. Sergun'kova (1972) believes that the age of Bandsky Fm could be pre-Famennian, as she thinks it is overlain not by Middle Devonian but by Famennian deposits. L.V. Shpotova et al. in 1988 tentatively assigned these formations to the Upper Silurian-Lower Devonian. In the monograph (165) - Lower Devonian to Lower Middle Devonian. R.R. Usmanov et al. (1999) and on the State Geologic Map-500 of Uzbekistan (460) - provisionally determined as Early to Middle Devonian. A more objective determination of the age of Band Fm volcanites, apparently, can be the fact of their lying beneath the sedimentary formations of the Lower Uchkuylach Subsuite (Uchkuylach Fm) of the Eifelian Middle Devonian, i.e., provisionally Early Devonian age.
